There are a lot of places in Las Vegas to have photos taken. Yet I think one of the coolest places for a fun photo shoot is Nevada Nelson Landing. The location is so beautiful that I can’t imagine anyone not wanting to take photos in it. You can’t go wrong with a Nelson Landing Photo session.
When the area was called El Dorado it was a hot spot for buried gold. Hundreds of years later it became a mining community. It put the area on the map by producing lead, silver, gold and copper worth multi-millions.
The historic relevancy of Nevada Nelson Landing makes it the perfect spot for everything from engagement photos to elopements. Its rustic ambiance makes it easy to capture the location’s ambiance. You are surrounded by desert containing a plethora of old barns and cars.
Now though of as a ghost town, it is a location you can’t soon forget. Not only are the locals extremely friendly and accommodating, the area has this uniquely rustic feel that can transform even the most hard core city girl. Here are just a few of the reasons why you shouldn’t pass up the chance to experience a Nelson Landing photo session.
Active Mines
For the following reasons, taking photos here is an amazing experience:
- active mines dating back to 1858
- its historical significance: Civil War deserters helped build the area
- the site of a major gold strike
I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of anywhere else where you can get such original and creative engagement/elopement photos. There are so many locations in Las Vegas that have been photographed over and over. If you’re like me and you think outside the box, wouldn’t you rather have your photos done here than in front of the famous “Welcome To Las Vegas” sign?
How to get to Nevada Nelson’s Landing?
Now if I’ve helped you see the light, and you can’t wait to have your photos taken here, you may be wondering how to get to Nelson. Leaving Las Vegas, you’ll need to head in the direction of Henderson. You should pass it but stop just short of passing Boulder City. All you need to do is take a right turn and enter 95 South. Ten miles later you will see is 165. Then you simply follow Centennial Marker #9 to El Dorado Canyon. Once you’ve passed the mines you will see the Public Recreation Area and a sign will direct you straight to Nelson. When you arrive you will be directed to the building where you should check in.
