Just got engaged?

So you and your partner have decided to tie the knot. First off, congratulations are in order. The big day you’ve always dreamt about is finally just around the corner, and your mind is probably swirling with excitement. Don’t worry; we’re here to help keep everything in order.

 The following is a list of things to do right after you get engaged.

1. Get the ring sized and insured:

   It better be comfortable because she’ll be wearing it a lot in the upcoming weeks. While you’re at it, make sure the ring has been properly appraised by a reputable jeweler.

2. Tell your family:

   Before running to break the news on Facebook and Twitter, tell your parents in person! This goes for any friends or family you’re especially close with. If your family lives out of state, call them right away. They will appreciate hearing the good news directly from you.

3. Set a date:

   Even if you’re not planning to walk down the aisle right away, consider when you’ll have the ceremony. Believe us, your friends and family will constantly ask about the wedding date. You don’t have to set an exact day — choose a month or season.

4. Know your budget:

   Weddings have a way of getting bigger and grander before the day actually arrives. Hopefully, you’ll be getting some monetary help from generous parental units. Be sure to add up all the help you’ll be getting (including potential wedding gifts).

5. Plan for some R & R:

   Don’t let the stress get to you. Have some fun by planning a manicure, trip to the spa or just some romantic time alone with your soon-to-be spouse. Maybe even plan an exiting, romantic trip to Las Vegas. While you here consider no.6

6. Set up an engagement session:

   This is one of the happiest times of your life, and you’ll want to remember it forever. 7. Hire a wedding planner:

   While you may be thinking of “going it alone,” a wedding planner can be a worthwhile investment. The planner will remember everything and do the hard work while you get to just enjoy the experience.

8. Daydream and brainstorm:

   Admit it. You’ve been daydreaming about your wedding day since grade school. Now you have the chance to brainstorm and be creative with your significant other. Consult some wedding magazines and start coming up with some ideas for the ceremony.

9.  Create a wedding savings account:

   If you don’t have the benefit of a large budget, consider setting up a savings account strictly for your wedding. This little trick has a way of encouraging couples to save.

10. Think about the guest list:

    Small and private or a 300-guest affair? Deciding who and who not to invite can be difficult (especially on those left out), so the sooner you can let friends know, the better.
